April 16, 2007, a terrible tragedy happened in Virginia Tech University. One Virginia Tech student killed 32 people with two handguns, after all he killed himself. All American and other country’s people were astonished to hear the news. And a lot of Americans are scared at guns or firearms. However, many other Americans still claim gun right which is opposite to gun control. Moreover, the murder case using guns was not first. A lot of murder cases using guns have happened in the U.S and other countries which allow citizens to have a gun. In spite of these murder cases which have happened continuously, why do governments which allow having a gun make the gun control law stronger? Also there are almost three hundred million in the U.S, and that means at least nine of ten American have one arm. Although many American have a gun and they oppose the gun control, people should follow gun control raw and governments make the gun control law stronger.

Opponents of gun control argue that people kill other people rather than guns kill people. That means people want to kill other people then they can kill with any ways such as a knife or a blunt weapon. However, I don’t agree with their opinion. I think that bearing arms can make more murder cases. Let’s think about some situation which might be terrible imagination. As I mentioned above, most of each American have a gun. If you want to kill someone and you have a gun, knife, and blunt weapon. Which one is the easiest way to kill someone? Probably many people answer that gun is the easiest way. The reason might be that we can shoot a gun with just one finger motion. Actually, in the U.S, the rate of murder cases using guns is more than half of total murder cases. In the United States during 1997, there were 15,289 murders. Of these, 10,369 were committed with firearms. There is other result which is about that gun right is not allowed. Washington D.C. enacted a virtual ban on handguns in 1976. Between 1976 and 1991, Washington D.C.’s homicide rate rose 200%, while the U.S. rate rose 12%. This result shows that if we don’t have a gun, a lot of murder cases using a gun will not only happen, but also just homicide rate will be decrease.

The second argument of opponents is bearing arms can protect oneself and reduce crime rate. However, there is some evidence which prove they are wrong. I think that bearing arms can bearing arms can lead to occur crimes such as robbery. There are some result which bearing arms relates with crime rates. “Survey conducted by Wright and Rossi (1986) and Sheley and Wright (1995) indicate that offender frequently use guns to intimidate and control their victims. Other study which used survey date on 12,000 robbery victims, Cook(1980) found that 55% of the commercial robberies involved guns.” (Stolzenberg, 2000) So this studies shows that guns are used in many criminal.

In my opinion, the reinforcement of gun control can’t get good results immediately because it is impossible to collect all of guns in the U.S. So the government should make gun control stronger step by step. And the government has to prevent or restrict people to buy a new gun especially children or people with a criminal record.

In conclusion, I claim again that people should follow gun control raw and governments make the gun control law stronger because bearing arms can make more murder cases and lead to occur crimes such as robbery. Let’s think about future when gun control enforces stronger. If the gun control law could be stronger, people live peaceful without wondering about crimes of guns. Also a crime rates are not much higher than people have a right to own a gun. However if the gun control law could be weak, a lot of tragic incidents will be happened such as Virginia Tech murder and people couldn’t believe others because of menace from other people’s guns. So I want to suggest opponents of gun control to live in other country where gun right is not allowed such as Korea or Japan. They might realize that it is happy and peaceful to live in those countries.

Nowadays, abortion is one of hot issues in the world. Many human rights orgarnizations claim that abortion should be banned. However, I feel that abortion is necessary because abortion can manage number of population. Management of number of population gives good effects in each home and country. First, in each home, there are some situation that even if people don’t want to have a baby because of economical condition, they get a baby. In that situation, they really want an abortion. Also, they satisfy number of their children and they can more concern about their children. The other part is about country. Goverment manages number of their population and abortion is a good way to manage number of population. For example, Bangladesh, which is one of Asian countries, has the highest population density. However, Bangladesh is small country. As a result, Bangladesh has some problems because of population such as lack of job opportunities and polution. Also, developing countries have same problem. Nowadays, the number of population in developing countries is increasing rapidly. Even though many people want to get a job, there aren’t enough opportunity to get a job. Also, people who want to find a job, they move in large cities because there are a lot of jobs in large cities. As a result, lots of poeple are concentrated in large cities and it can cause pollution. In conclusion, I think that abortion is necessary in our society because abortion can manage number of population.

When I came to the U.S, I planed that I would graduate from university in the U.S. However, my plan was changed. Actually, I was a junior in Korea. To graduate from my university, I just take three semesters. But if I transfer to other university in the U.S, I have to take 5 semesters or more because universities in the U.S. don’t accept my credits of Korean university. And a tuition fee is so expensive for international students. So those are the reasons that I changed my plan. After this semester, I’m going to go back to Korea and graduate from my university.

     Have you ever heard that schoolchildren’s reading score is falling? Over the whole world, falling reading scores among schoolchildren is one of worst problems in a society. Since science was developed, many new things come out such as an image media and a computer. A television is typical medium of image media. And most schoolchildren always contact those new things, and the things can be causes of falling reading score among schoolchildren. Causes of falling reading scores among schoolchildren are effect of television, computer games, and internet chatting program.

     The first cause of falling reading scores is effect of image media, especially a television. Many schoolchildren usually watch a television everyday more than one hour. A lot of TV channels broadcast movies, dramas, situation comedies, animations, and so on. Also they provide news programs. However, most schoolchildren aren’t interested in news programs. They like to watch movies, dramas, situation comedies, and animations because schoolchildren find some funs in those programs. When schoolchildren watch those programs, which are movie, drama, situation comedies, and animations, they don’t have to read something. They just watch those programs because those programs include brilliant images. Therefore, if those programs have some caption, schoolchildren don’t pay attention on caption because they concentrate on the brilliant images. Also, schoolchildren usually spend much time for watching television. As a result, schoolchildren don’t read a book in order to watch television and their reading ability is reduced.

      A computer game or a video game is the second cause of falling reading scores. Nowadays, most people have a computer and they play games by using computer. Most schoolchildren like to play something instead of study. They always try to find something to enjoy. A computer game is one of best enjoyment for schoolchildren. There is nothing to read during playing computer games. If there is something to read, it would be some menu or help text for playing. For example, people can play the Starcraft which is one of most popular computer game without reading something. The game is controlled with hot keys and mouse, so people can learn the game without reading help text. Of course, the Starcraft has some texts which help play game but also provide voice which is same content with the text. Also, schoolchildren usually spend time for playing a computer game. Worst of all, some schoolchildren is addicted with a computer game. Therefore, schoolchildren don’t have opportunities to read texts and loose time to read a book. An internet chatting program is the second cause of falling reading scores.    

Since the Industrial Revolution in 18th century, coals had started to use in many places. Before the Industrial Revolution, coals also had used, but quantities of using coals was not much. Coal is made of carbons. So using coals is lead to make a carbon dioxide. A carbon dioxide is the main cause of global warming. Because a carbon dioxide prevents heat from earth’s surface, temperature of earth is gradually increasing. Nowadays, even though people don’t use coals, they use oils, which include carbons, instead of coals. So quantities of carbon dioxides in atmosphere are still increasing. Global Warming leads to melt ices in the North Pole and the South Pole, so height of the surface of the sea is increasing and areas of lands are gradually decreasing. Also, Global Warming leads an inundation; so many animals and plants are damage and died.

1. I wrote some assignments of writting class in last semester. One of them is written about Outsiders which is novel. I had to read Outsiders, and then I had to write about it. Many topic was given to me, and I had to choose one of them. However, choosing a topic was difficult for me, and I couldn’t relate the topic and what I read well.

2. I sometimes write something in my native language which is Korean. Because there are not many situation that I write something in native language  in my life. I usually write in Korean in chat program and text message of cellular phone.

3. When I was elemantary student, I’ve kept a diary. Keeping a diary was my homework. Actually I didn’t like to keep a diary. I felt annoyingly about keeping a diary. However I had to write a diary, because it was  homework as student.

4. I want to learn about developing main idea and choosing good detail example.  I feel that I can build good organization  essay, but I’m awkward that developing main idea and choosing good detail example since I took level 3 writting class.  Sue who taught me in level 3 writting class last semester caught up my developing main idea and choosing good detail example. So I want to learn about developing main idea and choosing good detail example.
